You may or may not have noticed, but actors, singers and other celebs live for their eyelash extensions! Feeling more glamorous with long, luscious lashes, eyelash extensions have become a huge trend all over the world and of course Ibiza. Let's take a look at 6 celebrities who rock their eyelash extensions:

Kim Kardashian

The 'Kim Kardashian look' is actually a 'thing' in the eyelash extension business. A mixture of classic and volume lashes, with varying lengths throughout to create a 'spike' look. Only suitable for strong natural lashes who can take this fuller, glam look.

Katy Perry

Whether Katy's shopping for her fruit and veg, or on stage - she always looks on point. And eyelash extensions are her secret. Katy goes for the doll shaped look - longer lashes in the centre of the eye, with volume extensions, C curl.

How to keep your eyelash extensions clean

If you've had eyelash extensions before, you'll be familiar with the aftercare of not getting the lashes wet for 24 hours. But some people take this advice a little too far, and don't get them wet at all ever - gross!

Some people may notice a build up of gunk (dead skin, old make up, oils) on their lash line - then of course this needs to be cleaned. Clogged lashes can be unhygienic. Also, if the lashes are not clean when you arrive for your next lash appointment - the technician will spend more time cleaning them which eats into your precious extension application time. Dirty lashes can potentially create a shorter life of extensions as oils build up on the lashes causing them to fall out sooner.

So how should you keep your lashes clean... It's usually ok to clean the lashes just with water. Oil free eye make up remover is great to remove make up also. Just be sure to not use cotton wall buds or face wipes - the fibres will pull at the eyelash extensions. Also face wipes are full of oils. I recommend using a Q Tip (ear bud) that's damp with water, and gently stroke along the lash line.

It could be useful to use baby shampoo and lukewarm water if you notice you need to clean your lash line more thoroughly. With your finger tips, work the foam right into the lash line, rinse, pat dry and allow your lashes to dry naturally. 

All these methods can be incorporated into your daily skincare routing. If you're in the shower, try to avoid putting your face directly under the shower stream.

Clean your lashes every day or every second day, and be sure they're squeaky clean before your next lash appointment. Simple and quick ways to keep those lashes healthy and the eyelash extensions lasting for longer.

Eyelash Extensions: How to make them last

1. Arrive to the appointment with clean eyes. Be sure that your lashes are free of any makeup and/or oily residue. Not only does this speed up the application time, the adhesive will stick better to clean lashes.

2. This means shower before your appointment and/or wash your hair & body separately.

3. For 48 hours after your application, you should avoid steam. No saunas, hot yoga, sweaty gym sessions, etc.

4. Make sure the products you use are all oil free. Oils in your makeup remover, skin care products, makeup, etc will breakdown the adhesive on your lashes. Ask Belleza Natural for recommended products.

5. Where no mascara on your extensions! It becomes very difficult to remove the mascara from the extensions.

6. Do not pull or tug on your lashes. If they're criss-crossing, use a disposable mascara wand to comb through your lashes, root to end.

7. Less is more. The less eye makeup you wear, the less your play with your lashes, the longer they will last.

4 different types of Eyelash Extensions.... The ugly, the bad, the good, and the luxurious.

There are 4 different types of Eyelash Extensions available on the market – choose yours wisely!

Strip lashes

Cluster lashes

Single lashes

Volume lashes

Strip Lashes

Strip lashes are also referred to as Party lashes. These strips are applied using a latex / rubbery glue that will only secure the lashes in place for one night/event. Sometimes the strips can even come loose while you are still out and about. These lashes hardly ever look natural and your own lashes are visible underneath. Clients can buy this at their local beauty store / pharmacy and apply themselves. This is the worst option when it comes to Eyelash Extensions but luckily they do not damage your natural lashes as they are removed the same / following day. These can be classified as ‘the ugly’.

Cluster Lashes

Run! Very far away! If someone offers you this service it is very clear that they have a very small background on eyelash extensions. These lashes can be extremely dangerous when used in conjunction with a professional adhesive. What makes them so bad? Well, everything! First of all the weight of one cluster is simply too heavy for your natural lashes. Because they are so thick and clumpy they suck up a tremendous amount of adhesive which is simply not necessary. Less is more! The most dangerous part is that they are applied onto 3-5 natural lashes and therefore they deter natural lash growth and pull out your lashes.  These are definitely classified as ‘the bad’.

Single Lashes

Ah, the good old single lashes. These lashes come in a variety of lengths, curls and thicknesses to enhance your natural beauty. Each lash is applied individually onto one of your natural lashes and therefore will not cause any damage if correctly applied. Your natural lash will shed with the extension still attached and a new lash will grow in its place. Touch ups are required every 2-3 weeks. These are the ‘good’ lashes.

Volume Lashes

The Rolls Royce of Eyelash Extensions! Clients are constantly demanding fuller and more dramatic lashes and there is now a safe way to make this possible! Using super fine lashes we pick up 2-6 individual lashes and spread them into a fan (NOT a cluster). This fan will always be lighter or equal to the weight of one Single lash. One fan is applied to one natural lash and will not cause any lash damage if correctly applied. Touch ups are required every 2-4 weeks.

Holiday Eyelash Extensions - how can you make them last?

When the margaritas are flowing in Ibiza or on holiday, don't forget to follow Belleza Natural's lash care advice.

• Leave the lashes alone for 24hrs. This will allow the bond to reach it's full strength.

• Swimming is fine, but very heavily chlorinated water may weaken the glue bond.

• Carefully towel dry after swimming, gently dab the eye area. The natural lashes will absorb water and need to dry thoroughly to reach full strength again.

• Tanning oil and oily sun screen will take lashes straight off, it's the most common cause of holiday lash loss. Be aware of touching or wiping eyes with hands that have been applying oil.
